Chistlike Clockwork

Today the thought crossed my mind, I wonder if I could be as consistent as my watch. I know, a little bit of a weird thought but it is true. No matter what I am going through, how rushed I may be, no matter what I am thinking, feeling, processing, through thick and thin, rain and shine, hot and cold, my watch continues to tick on at the same pace everyday. Every moment of every minute.

I bought this particular watch last June while in Ohio for a couple weeks and it hasn't stopped ticking yet, except for the occasional times when the dial gets pulled out a little, but other than that it keeps ticking on. It has been through a lot of rough treatment in a year but it is still ticking.

So when I am at work, can I be that consistent? When I am going through a challenging time and have a lot on my mind, can I be that consistent? No matter what happens in my life, no matter what happens in each day if somebody is right brain, if someone is asking "Why should I?", if a family member is having a bad day, can I be the calm, consistent friend, sister, daughter for whom they are looking?

You know what the answer is? I can't. I can't in and of myself be that consistent. I can't by my own strength because I am human. I have a sin nature. Try as I may I will fail. We are human, we aren't perfect so we will have days when things don't run like clockwork and we get frustrated, upset, confused, worried, and anxious. But there is hope... by the power of Christ Jesus I can be calm with everything around me is whirling by. He will be all that we need. When we are weak, He is strong. "My strength is made perfect in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:9). He will be my strength, He will be my consistency, He will be my peace when life isn't peaceful, no matter what, He is perfect and since He is in me I don't have to worry, be upset, anxious or bothered.

When life gets rough and you feel like somebody is twirling you around a 100mph, remember this, the God who created you, the God who gave His only Son to die on the cross for your sins and my sins, is waiting with out stretched arms for us to come to Him and find everything that we need, and so much more!

We may not have all the answers but by the grace of God we can be for others what they need us to be. We can't be consistent with out Christ. Just like my watch in and of itself would not tick if it wasn't for the battery. Christ is our battery. He is the one that keeps us going when every thing seems to be pulling us down, He is the one that keeps us on track when it would be so easy to stray off the straight and narrow path. He is our all so run to Him and allow Jesus Christ to work in your life today. Allow Him to have each and every part of you, holding nothing back, then and only then will we be able to be consistent even when everything else, everyone else, isn't.

Safe in His loving hands,
